  • Now this really looks dark for our protagonists… Neffen was sorely missed in the fiendishly difficult camp investigation.
One thing I noted especially in this episode is the GM’s tendency to just give clues narratively without the characters having actively looked for them ( bc they seem quite at a loss really). That surely speeds up the adventure for the podcast but sometimes seems all too convenient to me.
    Still: great campaign, looking fwd

    • Good feedback Ems. It is always an interesting balance in my head trying to keep things moving for the group/show and waiting for them to figure it out on their own. I tend to start each episode with a rough idea of where in the story we are starting and where i’d like to finish. Generally we run 3 episodes to each main chapter of the book, but this episode had me all over the place and we barely made a fraction through the content i thought we would. When i find the group has totally derailed a section of the adventure, we obviously have a lot of fun, but getting them back on track can be tough without a little force feeding. I have found on several occasions with Thousand Thrones that the adventure is a bit rail roady at times and force feeding the PCs certain clues to keep the train running has been needed.

I’ll see if i can work in clues less obviously in the future, might take some practice =)

  • Hello Gitz, totally understand that! Campaigs from books are always natural rail roaders, and II guess it’s even more difficult if you play for a show and an audience.
    Keep it rocking!
